occupation

Liebe, Tanz und 1000 Schlager is a German revue and hit film by director Paul Martin from 1955 . This film, in which Peter Alexander and DEFA actor Willy A. Kleinau participated, was also shown in GDR cinemas.

The musical comedy, the plot of which is set in the music business, was only shown in shortened form in the GDR. All references to “Western excesses”, for example the rock'n'roll dance sequence, were cut out. The ZDF has re-edited the film and showed the long, integral version.

action

Hugo Sauer, head of the junior department of a large record company, has discovered a new talent: Caterina, the 19-year-old daughter of an Italian car mechanic. She hopes to accompany her great idol Peter Alexander on his tour.

Sauer brings them to Germany and has Peter Alexander's new record framed with their syncopations. He is then fired, but the foundation for Caterina's career is laid. Caterina goes on tour with Peter. However, since he is known as a womanizer, the head of the Osterhagen chapel does not allow women near him.

So Caterina has to play a 14-year-old girl in order to stay with him. Of course there is a happy ending.

Reviews

  • Lexicon of international film : “An undemanding revue and hit film in the manner of a musical“ star parade ”. The exuberantly staged nothing gets a certain charm through its carefree and the charm of Caterina Valente. "
  • The film papers noted that "the east zonal national prize winner Willy A. Kleinau" proves through his charge that "it can also be done in an apolitical way".
