Lilli Carati , actually Ileana Caravati , (born September 23, 1956 in Varese , Lombardy , † October 20, 2014 in Besano , Lombardy) was an Italian film actress .

Life

Education and career beginnings

Carati was born as Ileana Caravati and came from a merchant family . She began her artistic career in fashion , attended a school for mannequins and then worked as a fashion and photo model in Milan . In the Miss Italia election in 1974 in Reggio Calabria , she reached second place and won the title of "Miss Eleganza". She was then taken on as an actress for his production company Vides Cinematografica by the film producer Franco Cristaldi , who had been a member of the jury for the Miss Italia election .

Carati came into contact with hard drugs in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She regularly used heroin and cocaine . In May 1988 Carati was stopped at a police stop in Carabinieri . Carati spoke about her drug abuse in 1994 in the documentary Lilli, una vita da eroina , which first aired in February 1994 as part of the Storie Vere series on Rai 3 .
