List of AFC Cup finals
This list of the AFC Cup finals contains an overview of all the finals since the competition was introduced in 2004.
The finals and winners
Varia
Of the 16 finals played so far (both first and second legs considered together), two went into extra time . In both finals, extra time was followed by a penalty shoot-out , as it was still a draw after extra time. From the first edition in 2004 up to and including 2008, the AFC Cup winner was determined in the two legs. One team won the trophy once because of the number of away goals scored (Al-Jaish 2004 ).
A final has ended seven times (in the years with two finals, possibly only the first or second leg) with a result of 1: 0 and twice with 3: 2, 2: 1 and 2: 0. In the 2014 season, for the first time, not a single goal could be scored in a final in regular time (maximum 120 minutes).
Clubs from the same country faced each other three times in the final, in 2004 from Syria, 2007 from Jordan and 2013 from Kuwait. In all three cases there were also final duels within the city.
Ranking of the venues
The most frequent venue with four finals so far is the Amman International Stadium in Amman. The city is therefore also the most frequent venue and Jordan is the most frequent host. In the years with two finals, the first and second legs are counted individually.
