List of bridges across the Alster
The list of bridges across the Alster shows all the bridges that cross the Alster . The “Kleine Alster” or “Alsterfleet” sections of the lower Alster are included here as a natural part of the river. In the historical course of the Alster, today Mönkedamm- and Nikolaifleet , there are also the Altenwallbrücke, Mühlenbrücke, Trostbrücke , Nikolaibrücke, Reimersbrücke, Holzbrücke and Hohe Brücke . There are 18 bridges in the upper reaches of the Alster in Schleswig-Holstein and 56 in the Hamburg area.
- number
- The numbering of the bridges follows the course of the Alster and is used to sort the list. It is not an official numbering.
- Name, brief description
- Official bridge names that can be found in the German basic map are marked in bold. The other names are derived from their location and are only used to distinguish them.
- use
- A distinction is made here between road, underground, other railway and footpath bridges. The lock bridge next to the Hamburg City Hall , although it is now part of a pedestrian zone, is used as a road bridge due to its development status.
- Municipality / district, location
- In Schleswig-Holstein the municipality is indicated, in Hamburg the district. The information is based on the German basic map 1: 5,000. Since the Alster often forms the border between municipalities or districts, bridges are often located in two areas, the Lombard Bridge at the intersection of several borders even in four districts. The municipalities or districts on the orographically right bank are always mentioned first (i.e. usually the southern bank for the upper course and western for the middle and lower course). Since, according to the official map, the district boundary between Ohlsdorf and Hummelsbüttel does not run in the middle of the river, but on the right bank, only one district is named for the two bridges in this section, the Illies Bridge and the Kühn Bridge. The coordinates of the bridges are also listed here.
