List of architectural monuments in Teuschnitz
The monuments of the Upper Franconian town of Teuschnitz are compiled on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority. This list reflects the update from April 15, 2020 and contains 39 architectural monuments.
Ensembles
Teuschnitz main street
The ensemble encompasses the main street of Teuschnitz, which in its location corresponds to the market foundation in the 14th century and has a unifying development from the middle of the 19th century. The street is built on both sides in the southern area and on the western side in the north with eaves, structured sandstone blocks, which were built after the city fire of 1844 . These illustrate the claim of the former Oberamt Teuschnitz to be the “metropolis” of the Franconian Forest in the 19th century . The town hall with its bell tower and clock , built in 1854 on the square-like extension of the main street, sets a special accent . The dominant building in the street scene is the Catholic parish church of the Assumption of Mary , built in 1949 instead of a previous building . The open space south of the church, now used as a park, was created before 1854 when the remains of the former castle were finally demolished. (File number E-4-76-180-1)

crossroads | Sandstone, 19th century
According to tradition, this land monument was donated by a farmer who tilled his field with a team of oxen. When the animals shied and panicked, the man was grabbed by the tense harrow and dragged along. When he called the Blessed Mother in his distress, the ox is said to have stopped suddenly. In gratitude for his salvation, the farmer had this wayside cross built. Its base is stepped at the base, the field at the front bears the inscription "Praised be Jesus Christ". The grooved end extends far on all sides. A sandstone cross rises above the apex of the sloping platform, which is two-tiered at the base of the cross. The crossing is reinforced with convex bevels. The body and the inscription panel with the letters "INRI" at the head of the cross are made of metal. |

Two wayside shrines | Sandstone, Ionic columns and essays with arches and stone crosses, 1704
These two ionic wayside shrines of the same kind rest on concave-convex bases. The column shafts, subdivided by annular bulges and ending with Ionic capitals, rise from it. The year “1704” is carved below the capitals, but the eastern of the two land monuments has been damaged due to repair work. The narrow attachments, the lower parts of which are decorated with foliage, unload to the side. There are stone crosses on top of the curved cornices. Painted metal panels are embedded in the picture niches on the front sides. |

Wayside shrine | Sandstone, short pillar with Corinthian capital and four-sided top with picture niches, arched gables, stone ball and iron cross, second half of the 19th century
There are two different accounts of the occasion for the erection of this land monument. On the one hand, the wayside shrine is intended to commemorate the plague that was survived in 1790; on the other hand, it is intended to commemorate a rider who is said to have sunk in the swampy valley of the Haßlach with his horse . The monument rests on a square base on which a short, octagonal pillar shaft with a romanised capital stands. The top is closed by retracted round arches and crowned with a stone ball and an iron cross. The four picture niches are separated by columnar corner templates; the reliefs show the coronation of Mary , Saint Anthony of Padua , the Christ monogram with a trefoil cross and the Glosberg Mother of God. A statue of the Virgin Mary in the pilgrimage site north of the district town of Kronach is said to have cried bloody tears several times in 1727, which is why this motif can be found on numerous wayside shrines in the Franconian Forest . |

Wayside shrine | Sandstone, winding vine column, four-sided attachment with reliefs of the Coronation of Mary , Anna selbdritt , Holy Family and fourteen helpers in need , inscribed "1750"
This Ionic wayside shrine, sometimes called Hans-oh-Marter, rests on a concave-convex base, the south side of which bears the weathered inscription "thomaß Hotder ..." and the year 1750. A square intermediate piece is followed by the winding column shaft adorned with a frieze and decorated with vine tendrils and grapes, which ends with an Ionic capital. On it is the four-sided essay, the reliefs of which under the retracted arches show depictions of the coronation of Mary, the Holy Family, the Fourteen Holy Helpers with the Child Jesus and the third of Anna. According to the story, at the time of the Thirty Years' War, a Swedish soldier was killed by a Rappoltengreen farmer; the dead man then wandered around in the forest as a ghost and shouted "Hans, oh Hans". This wayside shrine was probably built to redeem the man's soul. |

On the lower half of the north-facing front side, this flat wayside shrine bears the heavily weathered inscription “Dedicated to memory by M. Gruber 1863” below the decorations. The relief above, flanked by two columns, shows the Trinity. On the south-facing side, Our Lady is shown with the baby Jesus. The stepped end of the wayside shrine is crowned with a Latin stone cross. The reason for the erection of the land monument was an unspecified accident during the transport of wood. |

St. Martin Way Chapel | Grauwackenstein, inscribed "1914"
The quarry stone chapel was built in 1914 by Johann Martin from Wickendorf to keep a promise made by his father; the reason for the establishment was "bad luck in agriculture". The name of the founder and the year of construction can be read on an inscription stone on the east side of the turret, which sits above the entrance on the slate-covered gable roof of the chapel, which is hipped to the west. The entrance to the chapel is closed with an iron gate, as the statue of Mary inside has already been the victim of robbery or vandalism several times. |

Remarks
- ↑ This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The monument property - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the monument atlas or the entry in the Bavarian monument list. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
