Wilhelmsthal coat of arms

The monuments of the Upper Franconian community of Wilhelmsthal are listed on this page . This table is a partial list of the list of architectural monuments in Bavaria . The basis is the Bavarian Monument List , which was first drawn up on the basis of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act of October 1, 1973 and has since been managed by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation . The following information does not replace the legally binding information from the monument protection authority. This list reflects the update from April 15, 2020 and contains 62 architectural monuments.

Ensembles

Effelter town center

The Effelter ensemble is a prime example of a planned settlement that was probably laid out in the late 13th century . The impressive shape of the Angerdorf with a forest hoofed area has been preserved in a rare vividness . The formerly uniformly slated, mostly single-storey residential stables from the 18th and 19th centuries, originally partly with ornamental painting, are grouped with their gable front to the elliptical village green and the church located here, which has been preserved in its current appearance from 1809. However, they only reflect the original structure, because in the past decades the houses have without exception been heavily remodeled or replaced by new buildings. One of the former three fishing ponds is still located on the common land. (File number E-4-76-189-1)

Wayside shrine, so-called Haazn-Marter Sandstone, pillars and four-sided attachment with arched gables, spherical attachment and metal cross, 18th century

This wayside shrine is said to have been erected in memory of the "Haazn farmers" from Effelter. After the end of the Thirty Years' War , looting troops roamed the country demanding that the farmer surrender his cattle. He refused, which is why he was abducted and tortured by the soldiers. He is said to have been found dying with his skin peeled off at the site of the monument . The wayside shrine stands on a concave-convex profiled base, which carries a pillar shaft decorated with banding and a capital . The top, closed by a retracted round arch , rests on it , which is crowned with a stone ball and an iron cross . The four sides of the essay show reliefs of the coronation of Mary , the apostles Peter and Paul , St. John Nepomuk and the Glosberg Mother of God. A statue of the Virgin Mary in the pilgrimage site north of the district town of Kronach is said to have cried bloody tears several times in 1727, which is why this motif can be found on numerous wayside shrines in the Franconian Forest .

The essay begins with indicated volutes and ends with a retracted round arch; as a crown he wears an iron cross. The relief on the front side shows the Trinity, on the two narrow sides there is a picture of Vespers and St. Thomas; the back of the attachment is blank. The paw cross on the shaft indicates the reason for the erection of the field monument: It reminds of a soldier who did military service for the founder, a wealthy brickworks owner, and died in the field. This buying a substitute for military service was a legal and common practice at the time.

Wayside chapel With equipment

A wooden chapel was located here until 1965, but nothing is known about its origins. Today's chapel was donated by a farmer from Lahm out of gratitude, as no misfortune occurred during the construction of his farm. The structure is an originally unclad square plastered building with a slate roof; today the walls are also covered with slate. The words "Pray and Work" above the arched entrance refer to Saint Konrad von Parzham , to whom the chapel is dedicated.

Remarks

  1. This list may not correspond to the current status of the official list of monuments. The latter can be viewed on the Internet as a PDF using the link given under web links and is also mapped in the Bavarian Monument Atlas . Even these representations, although they are updated daily by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation , do not always and everywhere reflect the current status. Therefore, the presence or absence of an object in this list or in the Bavarian Monument Atlas does not guarantee that it is currently a registered monument or not. The Bavarian List of Monuments is also an information directory. The monument property - and thus the legal protection - is defined in Art. 1 of the Bavarian Monument Protection Act (BayDSchG) and does not depend on the mapping in the monument atlas or the entry in the Bavarian monument list. Objects that are not listed in the Bavarian Monument List can also be monuments if they meet the criteria according to Art. 1 BayDSchG. Early involvement of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation according to Art. 6 BayDSchG is therefore necessary in all projects.
