The province of Free State with districts and municipalities (as of 2016)

The list of municipalities in the Free State Province includes all municipalities ( Local Municipalities and Metropolitan Municipalities ) in the South African Province of Free State ( Freestate ).

The province of Free State is divided into a metropolitan municipality and five districts (District Municipalities) with a total of 20 municipalities. The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is the only metropolitan municipality in the province and does not belong to any district.

• Population (census): Number of inhabitants of the municipality according to the 2001 census
• Inhabitants (census): Number of inhabitants of the municipality according to the 2011 census
• Area: Area of ​​the municipality (as of 2011)
• District: District to which the parish belongs
