Austria
In Austria, in addition to the primarily inner-city pedestrian zone (Section 53 Paragraph 9a / b StVO ), there are primarily suburban residential streets (Section 53 9c / d StVO) and the broadly applicable meeting zone (Section 53 9e / f StVO), which is still free of traffic regulations widely practiced in the 1980s. Some early examples of pioneering projects for the encounter zones (before the introduction of road traffic law in 2013) in more prominent locations are:
- Municipality of Gleinstätten (2009, started operation on September 12, 2010, first project in Austria to go into operation).
- Municipality Feldkirchen bei Graz (2009)
- City of Vöcklabruck (2009)
