The list of tornadoes in 2013 is an incomplete list. Confirmed tornadoes are listed by country.

The strength of a tornado is classified according to the Fujita scale (F0 to F5) or the TORRO scale (T0 to T10).

A particularly strong tornado that year was the Moore tornado on May 19 in Oklahoma.

Australia

  • On January 26th, the largest ever tornado outbreak occurred in Australia. These emerged in connection with the Oswald cyclone . At least 5 tornadoes have been confirmed. They performed near Bundaberg .
  • On March 21, 2013, a tornado hit northeastern Victoria . The wind speeds reached 254 km / h.

Bangladesh

  • On March 22, 2013, a tornado killed 31 people in Brahmanbaria district .

China

  • On March 21, a tornado in China killed at least 24 people and injured at least 148 others.

Germany

  • On May 4th a tornado occurred near Alzey (probably near Flonheim ).

  • On May 20th there was a tornado of unknown strength near Hangelar in North Rhine-Westphalia.

  • On August 19, an F2 tornado devastated a campsite at Hammerschmiedesee near Pommertsweiler in the Aalen district (Baden-Württemberg) and injured 27 people. At a neighboring campsite, caravans flew through the air and landed on the roof. There was also damage to surrounding buildings and trees.
  • On August 19, two more tornadoes occurred on the water in front of St. Peter-Ording and the Wesselburenerkoog (waterspouts).
  • On August 20, there were two waterspouts off Heligoland (Schleswig-Holstein) and Hooksiel (Lower Saxony).
  • On August 26th, a probably weak tornado occurred near Haßloch in Rhineland-Palatinate.
  • On September 1, there were two waterspouts on Lake Constance and a tornado on the shores of Lake Ammer (Bavaria).
  • On September 9, two waterspouts appeared in front of Langeoog.
  • On September 11th, a tornado in Schwefe und Ampen (North Rhine-Westphalia) snapped off some thick branches that damaged several house roofs. Nobody got hurt.
  • A short-lived tornado was observed near Burgkunstadt in Bavaria on September 13th.
  • On October 1st a waterspout occurred in front of Langballig (Schleswig-Holstein).

According to the information available, at least 27 tornadoes occurred in Germany in 2013.

France

  • On May 18, there was slight damage from an F0 tornado near Sainte-Maxime .
  • On May 23, an F0 tornado caused slight damage to the vegetation near Macheren .

Italy

  • On May 3, an F2 tornado caused millions in damages in the provinces of Bologna and Modena . 13 people were injured and more than 100 buildings were damaged.

Poland

Russia

  • On May 22, a tornado caused damage of around 100 million rubles near Yefremov . 20 people were injured and around 200 buildings were damaged.

Turkey

  • On May 11th, a person was killed in a tornado in Kızıltepe .
  • On May 14, two people were killed in a tornado in Mersin (province) and 19 others were injured.

United States

  • On 29./30. January saw the third largest tornado outbreak in January in Tennessee , Georgia , Ohio and eight other states with 43 confirmed tornadoes. The strongest tornado reached EF3 and killed a person in Adairsville .
  • On February 10, 2013, a tornado destroyed settlements near Hattiesburg , Mississippi . The wind speed reached 270 km / h. 82 people were injured.
  • On February 18, there were a total of 17 tornadoes, mostly in Texas . These were weak tornadoes (maximum EF1) that caused only minor damage.
  • On May 15th there was an EF4 tornado in Granbury , Texas . At least 6 people were killed and around 100 houses were destroyed.
  • As of May 19, 2013, a series of tornadoes struck the Oklahoma City , Oklahoma area . The wind speeds reached 320 km / h. The city of Moore was particularly hard hit. The bog tornado formed at 2:56 p.m. local time. The path of destruction was 4 km wide and 32 km long. Among other things, two primary schools were destroyed. At least 24 deaths were known on May 21, 2013. The storm is initially classified in level 4 of the Fujita scale .
  • On May 31, 2013, eleven people died from tornadoes. The tornado hunter Tim Samaras , his son Paul and his companion Carl Young were killed in an F3 tornado in El Reno .
