Lomnice nad Popelkou (German Lomnitz an der Popelka ) is a town in the Liberecký kraj region ( Czech Republic ) on the border between the Bohemian Paradise ( Český ráj ) and the Giant Mountains ( Krkonoše ). Lomnice is located on the Popelka River at an altitude of 478 m above sea level. M. and has about 5600 inhabitants. The city lives mainly from tourism, but also from industrial companies in the textile, mechanical engineering and wood processing industries. Lomnice is still known for the production of biscuits.

The city Lomnice nad Popelkou consists of the districts Cerna ( Cherna ) Dráčov ( Dratschow ), Chlum, Košov ( Koschow ), Lomnice nad Popelkou ( Lomnice nad Popelkou ) Morcinov ( Morzinow ), Nové Dvory ( Neuhöfen ) Ploužnice ( Plauschnitz ), Rváčov ( Rwatschow ), Skuhrov ( Skuchrow ), Tikov ( Tikow ) and Želechy ( Schelech ). Basic settlement units are Černá, Hoření Lomnice ( Oberlomnitz ), Hrádka, Chlum, Košov, Lomnice nad Popelkou, Morcinov, Nové Dvory, Ploužnice, Rváčov, Skuhrov, Želechy and Žižkov.
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Chlum pod Táborem, Košov, Lomnice nad Popelkou, Ploužnice pod Táborem, Rváčov and Želechy.
