reception

Horst-Günther Fiedler found in TV-Media that Stipsits "after the rather disappointing Baumschlager finally and sympathetically arrived in the cinema as a womanizer like you and me". The role of the superficial, but warm-hearted and insecure Hallodris is written for the cabaret star .

Franco Schedl, on the other hand, said on film.at that the film may not be quite as bad as "Baumschlager", but that it is still a long way from a successful comedy. The French could stage frivolous entertainment, in Austria it usually "turns out to be a very rigid matter". The script wouldn't leave out any of the standard predictable humiliations .

Matthias Greuling wrote in the Wiener Zeitung that the film was part of a current in Austrian cinema that was trying to appeal to the masses. You always run the risk of ending up in old clichés. That would have happened in a lot of films lately, like Baumschlager or Das kleine Genuss . Love Machine is no exception.

Barbara Petsch judged in the daily newspaper Die Presse that the rustic comedy was convincingly cast, quite amusing, but would have turned out too long. The film seems "not particularly cheeky, but not tasteless either". The "crass military satire Baumschlager" would be more original than "Love Machine".
