Career
German youth league
Lucas Dumont only started playing football before he joined the ice hockey club from his home region, SC Bietigheim-Bissingen , at the age of eight . He played with the club in the school league for the under 16s and was the player with the highest points in his team in the 2012/13 season. In the following 2013/14 season he was active for the club from the Stuttgart area in the youth Bundesliga. In the league structure at the time, the youth Bundesliga was the second highest division in German ice hockey youth . Dumont won the championship with Bietigheim-Bissingen this season and was the player with the highest points in the entire league. For the 2014/15 season he switched to the Cologne Sharks youth team , which were active in the highest German youth league. With the Cologne team he reached the play-off final of this season. In the following season he continued to play for the youth team from the cathedral city, reached second place with them after the preliminary round and was again the player with the highest points in his team.
DEL2 and Kölner Haie
For the following season , Dumont was signed by the professional team of the Kölner Haie , but was only used for the then DEL2 cooperation partner of the Haie, the Dresdner Eislöwen . He completed 37 DEL2 games for the Eislöwen before injuring himself at the end of the season. Dresden reached fourth place in the main round, which was the club's best placement in Germany's second-rate ice hockey league up to that point. For the 2017/18 season , the Haie changed their DEL2 cooperation partner and worked for this season with the reigning DEL2 champion Löwen Frankfurt . Dumont was also loaned to the Hessian club and reached the play-off semi-finals with the club. He was able to score the important equalizer in the decisive game of the quarter-finals in a duel with local rivals Kassel Huskies . But he also had his first DEL appearances for his home club Kölner Haie in the 2017/18 season . He played his first DEL game in October 2017 against the Eisbären Berlin . On December 7, 2017, he scored his first DEL goal in the game against Schwenninger Wild Wings .
For the 2018/19 season , Dumont was designated by the then Haie coach Peter Draisaitl for the Haie's fourth series of attacks with Kai Hospelt and Alexander Oblinger . In the course of the preliminary round, he was able to gain a regular place in the Kölner Haie team thanks to his performance.
International
Although his parents are French , Lucas Dumont took on German citizenship and took part in the U20 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship 2017 of Division I in Bremerhaven for the German U20 national team in December 2016 . In the game against the later division winners Belarus , which Germany won 4-3, he scored a goal. In January 2019 he was invited to the "Perspetiv Team Beijing" by the national coach Toni Söderholm .
