Sebastian Uvira (born January 26, 1993 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Kölner Haien in the German Ice Hockey League since 2014 . His father Eduard Uvíra was also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Sebastian Uvira started his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of EV Landshut , where he was active until 2007. He then played for two years for the U18 juniors of HC Slezan Opava in the Czech Republic, before moving to the Eisbären Juniors Berlin from the German junior league shortly before the end of the 2008/09 season. The attacker stayed there in the following season, scoring three goals in five games for FASS Berlin in the fourth-class ice hockey regional league . For the 2010/11 season he returned to EV Landshut, with whose U18 juniors he won the DNL championship. At the same time he made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey for the Landshut Cannibals, the club's professional team . In this he scored three goals and one assist in a total of 28 games.
For the 2011/12 season Uvira moved to the Oshawa Generals from the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . For the Generals, he scored 22 scorer points in 58 games in his first year in North America, including 13 goals. On January 10, 2013 Sebastian Uvira was transferred within the league to the Plymouth Whalers . It was there that the striker finally ended his junior period. He then returned to Germany and joined the Augsburg Panthers from the German Ice Hockey League for the 2013/14 season . During the following season 2014/15 he was transferred in exchange with Philip Riefers to the league competitor Kölner Haie , with which he received a two-year contract. In February 2017, the Cologne-based company extended his contract for a further three seasons until 2020. In the 2017/18 season , Uvira reached the 20 point mark for the first time after the main round and was the Haie’s most successful goalscorer in the main round with 17 goals in the following season 2018/19 .
International
For Germany , Uvira took part in the U18 Junior World Championship 2010 and the U20 Junior World Championship of Division IA 2012 . He succeeded in advancing with the team, so that he competed in the 2013 U20 World Junior Championship in the top division.
The striker made his debut in the squad during the 2014/15 season. Uvira completed its first major international tournament with the 2018 World Cup in Denmark .
