Thomas Brandl (born February 9, 1969 in Bad Tölz ) is a former German ice hockey player and current trainer who has been an individual trainer for the Kölner Haien in the German ice hockey league since December 2016 .

Career

In his youth he played in the offspring of the EC Bad Tölz . In 1987 he moved from the first team to the Cologne EC in the ice hockey Bundesliga , where he won his first two championship titles. In the German ice hockey league he played next to the Kölner Haien also for the Düsseldorfer EG . After moving to the Krefeld Pinguinen in summer 1998 , he won his third championship title there in 2003. He ended his active career in 2004 at EV Duisburg in the 2nd Bundesliga . He played in the senior national team from 1990 to 1998.

After the end of his active career, Brandl has been working in the organization of the Kölner Haie since the 2010/11 season and was initially assistant coach of the U18 team in the German junior league before moving up to the U19 in the same position in the 2014/15 season. From January 2016 he was assistant coach of the professional team in the German Ice Hockey League under Cory Clouston and resigned in December 2016 for family reasons, but remained on the staff of the Haie and, as an individual coach, took care of units with injured players, among other things.

International

For Germany Brandl took part in the Junior B World Championship in 1987 , as well as the World Championships in 1990 , 1991 , 1993 , 1994 and 1995 . He was also in Germany's squad at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , 1994 in Lillehammer and 1998 in Nagano, as well as at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey .
