The village Hardt is one of Moenchengladbach in the western part of the metropolitan area. Hardt was one of the ten Mönchengladbach districts until October 22, 2009. Since the redesign of the city districts, Hardt has been part of the Mönchengladbach Nord district .
etymology
The toponym Hardt as a field name comes from Old High German and means wooded slope or hill.
Hardt district
The districts of Hardt-Mitte , Hardter Wald and Venn belong to the former Hardt district . The Hardt-Mitte district includes, in addition to the actual town of Hardt, the districts of Vorst and Winkeln , the villages of Rasseln and Piperlohof , and the small hamlet of Wey between Hardt and Dülken .
Locality
history
The first written evidence for Hardt comes from the year 1116, another from the year 1135. During these years the Gladbach Abbey owned the so-called tithe . Hardt already had its own college of lay judges . Hardt has belonged to the Grevenbroich office in the Duchy of Jülich since the Middle Ages . In 1794 the place was occupied by French revolutionary troops and came to the canton of Neersen. 1815 Hardt became part of the Kingdom of Prussia and in 1836 was the mayor Hardt in circles Gladbach.
In 1919 Hardt was a Prussian rural community in the Rhineland near Munich-Gladbach and had 3,720 inhabitants. In 1927 the mayor's office in Hardt was renamed to Amt Hardt. Hardt has been part of Mönchengladbach since 1929 .
In 1903 the foundation stone for today's town was laid here. Hardterwald Clinic. This was donated in 1900 by Louise Gueury in her will . In October 2011, the Mönchengladbach municipal clinics sold the clinic to Eifelhöhen-Klinik AG for 2.3 million euros . This rebuilt the site and opened a rehabilitation center for heart patients in April 2014.

The town of Hardt is south of the A 52 Roermond - Düsseldorf with the Mönchengladbach-Hardt junction . The A 61 runs east of Hardt from Koblenz to Venlo with the Mönchengladbach-Nordpark junction.
Hardt is connected to other parts of the city and neighboring towns in the district of Viersen by several NEW bus lines, mobile and active .

Hardt's population is predominantly Roman Catholic. The Catholic parish church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. The Protestant parish maintains a parish hall with a church hall, the Albert Schweitzer House . At the beginning of 2018, the Hardter parish merged with the Friedenskirche in Mönchengladbach Mitte. ( 51.2 ° N , 6.35 ° E )
Sports
In Hardt there is a table tennis club, a tennis club, a gymnastics club and the soccer club SC Hardt 19/31 eV, whose first team plays in the district league A (group 1). The SC Hardt women's team will play in the district league from the 2017/2018 season after promotion.
