Mönchengladbach North is one of four districts of the independent city Mönchengladbach in western German state of North Rhine-Westphalia . Within Mönchengladbach, the administrative unit that has only existed since October 22, 2009 is usually briefly referred to as the northern district. In 2009, the previous urban districts Stadtmitte and Hardt were merged in the northern district . This administrative reform was passed on February 27, 2008 by the Mönchengladbach City Council with a narrow majority of just one vote. The district administration is located in the administration building on Fliethstraße in Gladbach.

District Representation

In the last local election in 2009 , the district's population who took part in the election voted 36.2 percent CDU , 26.0 percent SPD , 13.0 percent Greens , 11.3 percent FDP , 7.4 percent FWG , 4.0 percent Die Linke . The remaining 2.1 percent of the vote went to the other parties. The district council has 19 members.
