The Malaysian U-23 national soccer team is a national team of Malaysian soccer players . It is subordinate to the Malaysian Football Association FAM and represents it internationally at the U-23 level , for example in friendly matches against the teams from other national associations, at U-23 Asian championships and the football tournaments of the Summer Olympic Games , the Asian Games and the Southeast Asian Games .

So far, the team has not been able to qualify for the Olympic football tournament. Malaysia took part in the U-23 Asian Cup once and reached the quarter-finals in 2018 . At the Southeast Asian Games in 2009 and 2011 , the team won the gold medal. Malaysia took part in the Asian Games five times and made it to the round of 16 in 2010 and 2018 .

Eligible to play are players who have not yet reached the age of 23 and who are Malaysian citizens .
