The Maldivian U-23 national soccer team is a selection team of Maldivian soccer players . It is subordinate to the Maldivian football association FAM and represents it internationally at the U-23 level , for example in friendly matches against the teams of other national associations, at U-23 Asian championships and the football tournaments of the Summer Olympic Games , the Asian Games and the South Asian Games .
So far, the team has not been able to qualify for the Olympic football tournament or the U-23 Asian Cup. At the South Asian Games 2010 , the team won the bronze medal for the first time. The Maldives took part in the Asian Games four times, but never got beyond the group stage.
Eligible to play are players who have not yet reached the age of 23 and who are Maldivian citizenship .
