Manuel Stiefler (born July 25, 1988 in Bayreuth ) is a German soccer player . He plays for Karlsruher SC .

Career

Youth clubs

As a five-year-old Manuel Stiefler started playing football in the youth of TSC Pottenstein . With the Pottensteiners, Stiefler played the role of playmaker. In this role he had scored a goal in almost every game (seven times in one of the games). Later he came to the DFB base Bayreuth-Kulmbach at the age of 12. At that time, the base coordinator Stiefler had also called in for the district selection. Then he went to the youth of SpVgg Bayreuth , before he switched to the youth of the then second division SpVgg Greuther Fürth in 2002 . Meanwhile, Stiefler even made the leap into the Bayern selection. In his last year in the Fürth A-Youth (Stieflers last year before reaching the age limit), he tore a tendon in his thigh. So his time in Fürth was over.

SpVgg Bayreuth

In 2007, after reaching the age limit, Stiefler moved to the first team of his former club SpVgg Bayreuth, which played in the then fourth-class Bayernliga . He made his first senior game on August 15, 2007 against SV Heimstetten ; on August 24, 2007, Stiefler got his first two goals in the senior division. At home, Stiefler rose to become a regular player. Bayreuth took first place at the end of the season, but did not receive a license for the regional league. Stiefler had made 29 appearances and five hits during the season. Stiefler aroused the interest of his ex-club Fürth and that of 1. FC Nürnberg .

1. FC Nuremberg

For the 2008/09 season , Stiefler moved to the second team of 1. FC Nürnberg, which had been relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga at the time and played in the Regionalliga Süd. After 32 appearances and five goals, he received a contract for the professional team the following season, which had previously made it back to the Bundesliga . However, Stiefler continued to play for the reserve eleven. One of the reasons was the change of coach in the professional team from Michael Oenning to Dieter Hecking .

1. FC Saarbrücken

For the 2010/11 season , the midfielder moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken , who had been promoted to the 3rd division , and made his professional league debut on August 11, 2010 when he played against FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the 84th minute for Ufuk Özbek was substituted on. In the following years, however, he only became a regular player at times. Stiefler scored his first goal in professional football on March 5, 2011 in a 4-1 win over Bayern Munich's second team . Stiefler was used 32 times in this season, in which Saarbrücken was in the second half of the table for a long time and finished sixth in the table at the end of the season, with four goals. In the following season, in which the team temporarily played for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga and at the end of the season occupied tenth place in the table, Stiefler played 30 times. He scored five goals.

SV Sandhausen

Since he did not want to extend his contract with 1. FC Saarbrücken, he signed a new contract with the second division club SV Sandhausen on May 30, 2013. There he tore a cruciate ligament in April 2015 and was absent until November. In January 2016 he tore his cruciate ligament again and fell out again for a whole year. For Sandhausen, he scored the goal of the interim 1-0 lead in the 2: 3 home defeat against VfL Bochum on March 17, 2018, the 27th matchday of the 2017/18 season, with the pick. This hit was voted Goal of the Month for March 2018. Stiefler was the first SV Sandhausen player to receive this award. After a total of 82 league games and five goals in five seasons, his contract was not extended in summer 2018.

Karlsruher SC

For the 2018/19 season, the club-free Stiefler moved to third division club Karlsruher SC , where he signed a contract until June 2020. There he made his debut on the 1st matchday of this season in a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Braunschweig . In the course of the season, Stiefler also developed into an important part of the team because of its variable applicability. Mostly, however, he was used in defensive or right midfield. With his performances in a total of 35 league appearances and two scored and eight prepared goals, he made a significant contribution to the fact that he was promoted to the second division with the KSC at the end of the season.
