The city of Martos is located in the province of Jaén in the autonomous region of Andalusia in southern Spain , on the western tip of the Sierra Jabalcuz .
With 24,215 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019), Martos is the fifth largest city in the province. The economic focus is on agriculture and plastics processing. Martos is one of the largest olive oil producers in the world.
The French multinational Valeo has been established in the municipality , specializing in the manufacture of headlights and taillights for the automotive sector, as well as a large ancillary industry around.
There is a partnership with the Italian municipality of Cellamare in Apulia .
In ancient times the city of Tucci or Colonia Augusta Gemella Tuccitana was called.
