Porcuna is a Spanish municipality in the province of Jaén in the Comunidad Autónoma Andalusia . Porcuna is located 42 km from Jaén and 63 km from Córdoba and had a population of 6,235 on January 1, 2019. The main line of business is the cultivation of olives. The parish has a few buildings worth seeing, some of them are churches. Also noteworthy is the local festival called Romería de la Virgen de Alharilla , which is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May.
Porcuna has already seen several ruling peoples on the Iberian Peninsula. During the rule of the Iberian peoples, the village was still called Ipolca , the Romans later renamed it Obulco until the Arabs called it Bulkūna (بلكونة). In 1483 Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad had to cede the village to the Christians who defeated the ruler in the course of the Reconquista .
In July 1975, the remains of an Iberian statue were discovered in the vicinity of Porcuna. A total of 1500 fragments were found.
