Michael Bleekemolen (born October 2, 1949 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch automobile racing driver .

Career

Michael Bleekemolen was a Dutch Formula Super Vau and Formula Ford driver when he unexpectedly entered Formula 1 in 1977 with a lot of Dutch sponsorship money . The effort for the RAM Racing Team on a March 761 - Cosworth at the Dutch Grand Prix came clearly too early, as Bleekemolen lacked any experience with the fast Formula 1 cars. The effort was bound to fail and Bleekemolen could not qualify.

In 1978, the Formula 3 European Championship went on to take fifth place in the overall standings, when he got a cockpit at ATS with sponsorship money again in the middle of the season . The second attempt to gain a foothold in Formula 1 also failed. He was only able to qualify once for a Grand Prix at the Grand Prix of the USA East in Watkins Glen , but retired early due to a defect in the oil pump.

Bleekemolen then gave up its ambitions in the highest class of international motorsport and concentrated on consistent progress in the lower classes. From 1979 he drove for three more years in Formula 3 and was always able to classify himself in the top field in the European Championship. When it became clear to him that he would be denied a great career, he still drove sporadic sports car races. In the mid-1980s, apart from occasional touring car races, he retired from active racing and took on the careers of his sons Jeroen and Sebastiaan .
