Miramar is a municipality in the Valencian Community , Spain . It is located in the Comarca Safor in the province of Valencia .
geography
The place is located directly on the Mediterranean coast in a flat landscape on sandy sediment with no special rivers or elevations.
location
The following localities border the municipality: Bellreguard , Gandia , Guardamar de la Safor, Palmera and Piles . Like almost all of the coastal towns, Miramar also consists of the core town and the district with direct access to the beach ( Valencian : Platja ) which are about 1 km away from each other.
In terms of tourism, Miramar is assigned to the southern coastline of the Costa dels Tarongers (Spanish: Costa del Azahar ) or the tourist region València Terra i Mar (Spanish: Valencia Terra y Mar ), depending on the layout .
You can reach Miramar from Valencia or Alicante via the N-332 at the intersection with the CV-673.
history
Originally, Miramar was a Muslim village under the jurisdiction of Bairen Castle. After the Reconquista it fell to Sanxo Ximenis . Since 1535 it belonged to the Duchy of Gandia . It was acquired by the Borgia family in the seventeenth century .
Residents
In 1794 there were 105 houses with 500 inhabitants, in 1897 there were already 801 houses.

Economy and culture
The economy has historically been shaped by agriculture and the marketing of citrus fruits and sugar cane . In addition to a small industrial area, the domestic tourism sector is the most important branch of the economy, which has given a great boost, especially in recent years. Platja de Miramar is part of the Plan de Playas Accesibles initiative for barrier-free beach access in the Valencian Community.
Every year in Miramar in the first week of August, Moros i Cristians are celebrated .
