NGC 3591 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Becher south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 239 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies IC 679 and IC 2668 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 27, 1786 .
