NGC 3162 = NGC 3575 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is around 55 million light years from the Milky Way .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 12, 1784 .
