NGC 3609 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble-type Sab in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 359 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 130,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 3612 and PGC 34516 , it forms the galaxy trio Holm 241 .
The object was discovered on March 18, 1869 by Otto Wilhelm von Struve .
