NGC 3899 = NGC 3912 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Leo , which is an estimated 78 million light years away from the Milky Way .
The galaxy was discovered on April 14, 1789 by the astronomer William Herschel with his 18.7-inch reflecting telescope.
