NGC 3906 is a bar-spiral galaxy in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is an estimated 45 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is part of the Ursa Major Galaxy Cluster and a member of the NGC 4051 group ( LGG 269 ).
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3893 , NGC 3896 , NGC 3928 .
The object was discovered on March 9, 1788 by the astronomer William Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflecting telescope.
