NGC 3894 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E4 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 148 million light years from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 3895 it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy pair Holm 294 or KPG 303 and together with PGC 36862 a galaxy trio . She is considered a member of the NGC 3963 group ( LGG 251 ).

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on March 18, 1790 .
