NGC 3881 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 419 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3871 , NGC 3878 , NGC 3880 , IC 2959 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on April 29, 1827 .
