Winner of the National Board of Review award for Best Young Actor ( Breakthrough Performance - Male ).

In contrast to the winners in the Best Young Actress category , the young male actress has so far been denied an Oscar win. Only four winners ( Terrence Howard , Ryan Gosling , Jeremy Renner and Lucas Hedges ) were later nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor or Supporting Actor.
