The 1960/61 season was the 23rd regular staging of the National League A , the highest Swiss league in ice hockey . For the third time in the club's history, Zürcher SC became Swiss champions, while Lausanne HC was relegated to NLB.

mode

As in the previous year, the league was played in a common main round. Each of the eight teams played back and forth against each group opponent, making the total number of games per team 14. The first in the table became Swiss champions, while the bottom of the table had to compete against the best second division team in the relegation to avoid relegation. Each team received two points for a win and one point for a tie. If you lost, you didn't get any points.

Relegation

Lausanne HC had to go into relegation and met the best second division team, SC Langnau, to which he lost with two defeats at 5:12 goals, whereby Lausanne HC relegated to the NLB and SC Langnau took its place in the NLA.
