Nicole Nau (2010)

Nicole Nau (* the 30th January 1963 in Dusseldorf ) is a German , from 1989 to 2016 Argentina -based dancer for Argentine tango and Argentine folklore .

Life and accomplishments

After studying graphic design, Nau worked for advertising agencies before she moved to Argentina and trained as a professional dancer. In 1990 she first appeared in Café Homero . An engagement as a dancer in the opera Maraton at the opera Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires followed.

In 2002 she premiered the tango opera Orestes - Last Tango . The opera was co-produced with the Netherlands' World Music Theater Festival. Here she danced for the first time with Luis Pereyra , her current husband and dance partner.

The productions El Sonido de mi Tierra , Bailando en Soledad , Secretos de la Danza , El Color de mi Baile and Tango Puro Argentino y Mas were created in collaboration with Luis Pereyra . Together with him she reopened the tango house Café de los Angelitos in 2007 as artistic director . In 2010 the artistic direction followed in the Viejo Almacén and in 2011 in Aqui Folklore .

She went on tours a. a. in Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Germany, Japan, Russia, Holland, Austria, Switzerland, Great Britain and Canada. Since 2001 she has been a member of the company El Sonido de mi Tierra - The Great Dance of Argentina and regularly on tour, the director of the company is Luis Pereyra . Since 2016 the company has been called El Sonido de mi Tierra - VIDA! ARGENTINO

She realized the costume design in various tango and folklore productions. Nicole Nau has been living in Germany again since 2016 and producing her own shows there.

Her book Tanze Tango mit dem Leben was published by Bastei Lübbe Verlag and its second edition was printed in January 2014.

Awards and honors

• 1993: COMFER, Comité Federal de Radiodifusión, she and one of her partners at the time, Ricardo "el Holandés", received the prize for their cultural contribution, presented by León Guinsburg.
• 2000: Representation based on a photograph by Máximo Parpagnoli on a stamp of the Argentine Post for the 100th anniversary of Tango (first published November 11, 2000).
• 2001: Depiction with the same and a new motif on a stamp of the Argentine Post on the subject of Japanese-Argentine friendship, World Exhibition Filatelie in Japan (first published July 28, 2001).
• 2012: Your work Tango Puro Argentino y más! is awarded by the Argentine state as DE INTERÉS CULTURAL, Ref. Expete. SCNro 6020/12
• 2014: Nicole Nau & Luis Pereyra Company is appointed by CID President Dr. Alkis Raftis as an official member of the International Dance Council CID | UNESCO appointed
