Nikkō Hotels International ( Japanese ニ ッ コ ー ・ ホ テ ル ズ ・ イ ン タ ー ナ シ ョ ナ ル , Nikkō Hoteruzu Intānashonaru ) is a Japanese hotel chain owned by Hotel Ōkura . It offers hotels in the four to five star segment in Asia, Europe, North America and the South Pacific. A large part of the employees of the houses in Europe are of Asian origin.

history

Founded in 1972 by Japan Airlines ( Nihon Kōkū , or Nikkō for short), the first hotel opened in Jakarta that same year . The first house in Japan opened a year later.

Originally the holding company was Nihon Kōkū Kaihatsu KK (English Japan Airlines Development Company Ltd. ), which was renamed JAL Hotels in the 1990s and was acquired by Hotel Ōkura in 2010, whose brand has been Nikkō Hotels International ever since.
