Ogho-Oghene Omano Egwero (born November 26, 1988 in Egbo ) is a Nigerian sprinter .

Athletic career

Ogho-Oghene Egwero gained his first international experience at the West African Championships 2009 in Porto-Novo , where he won the silver medal over 100 meters. He also qualified for the World Championships in Berlin and reached the quarter-finals there . In 2010 he reached the semi-finals at the World Indoor Championships in Doha over 60 meters and was eliminated there with 6.68 seconds. At the African Championships in Nairobi , he was fifth over 100 meters and won the silver medal with the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay. He also failed over 200 meters in the first lap. He then took part in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and was eliminated there over 100 meters with 10.31 s in the semifinals. He was disqualified in the preliminary run with the Nigerian relay.

In 2011 he took part in the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen and was there in the finals with 10.35 s sixth and retired with the relay in the first round. At the World Championships in Daegu , he failed over 100 meters in the first round. He then finished fourth in the Africa Games in Maputo in 10.31 s. In 2012 he finished seventh over 100 meters at the African Championships in Porto-Novo and again took silver in the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay. At the Olympic Games in London , he was as little over 100 meters as he was at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow .

In 2014 he took part in the 4 x 200 meter relay in the World Relays in the Bahamas , but was eliminated there in the first round. He then reached the semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow over 100 meters and was eliminated from the relay in the first round. At the African Championships in Marrakech he was fifth over 100 meters in 10.28 s and won the Nigerian 4-by-100-meter relay, and at the Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech he was third with the African 4-by-100 Meter relay.

In 2015 he won the silver medal at the African Games in Brazzaville in 10.17 seconds and was eliminated in the preliminary round with both the 4 x 100 meter relay and the 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2016 he qualified over 60 meters for the World Indoor Championships in Portland , where he was eliminated in the first round with 6.75 s. During the outdoor season he qualified again for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 10.37 s in the first round .

In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games for the third time in the Australian Gold Coast , where he was eliminated in the semi-finals over 100 meters with 10.42 s. He was also disqualified in the final with the Nigerian 4 x 100 meter relay. He then retired at the African Championships in Asaba with 10.45 s in the semi-finals and won the silver medal behind the team from South Africa in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 38.74 s. The following year he again took part in the Afriakspiele in Rabat , where he finished sixth over 200 meters in 21.00 s and was used in the relay in the run-up, which later won the silver medal in the final. Previously, he was disqualified at the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama with the 4 x 100 meter relay and finished fourth with the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1: 22.08 min. In the season he received a starting place for the World Championships in Doha , in which he was disqualified in the run-up.

In 2011 and 2013 Egwero was the Nigerian champion in the 100-meter run .
