Forest-Olszyna border crossing point

Olszyna is located in Niederlausitz , right on the border with Germany . The city of Żary is around 25 kilometers east and the city of Cottbus around 30 kilometers northwest of the village. Surrounding towns are Kałki in the east, Bukowina in the south and the towns of Bahren in the south-west, Raden in the west and Klein Bademeusel in the north-west. To the north of Olszyna are extensive forest areas, to the west of the Lusatian Neisse .

Olszyna is in close proximity to the A18 autostrada and has a junction there. The Forst – Olszyna border crossing, where the A18 autostrada merges with the German federal motorway 15 , is north of the village.

history

Alder wood historically belonged to the rule of Pförten and thus from 1746 to the rule of forest . The place was subordinate to the von Brühl family . Alder wood belonged to the Electorate of Saxony until 1806 and then to the Kingdom of Saxony until 1815 . After a decision at the Congress of Vienna , Saxony had to cede Niederlausitz to the Kingdom of Prussia . Since 1816 the municipality Erlenholz was in the district of Sorau (Lausitz) in the province of Brandenburg . In 1844 the topographical-statistical overview of the administrative district of Frankfurt adO recorded 90 inhabitants in 17 houses for alder wood. Ecclesiastically the place belonged to Triebel. In 1867 Alder Wood had 98 inhabitants.

At the census on December 1, 1910, Erlenholz had 92 inhabitants. In administrative terms, the municipality of Erlenholz was initially merged with five and later with four other municipalities to form the Kemnitz district. After the Second World War , the Lords of Brühl were expropriated and the Forst dominion was dissolved. With the establishment of the Oder-Neisse border on August 2, 1945, the Kemnitz district was dissolved. Erlenholz came to Poland as a place east of the Lusatian Neisse and was renamed Olszyna. The German residents were driven out of the place and the houses were occupied by Polish new settlers.

On June 28, 1946, Olszyna was incorporated into Trzebiel. Initially, the place was part of the Wroclaw Voivodeship , from 1950 the place belonged to the Zielona Góra Voivodeship . From October 5, 1954 to January 1, 1973, Olszyna belonged administratively to the Gromada Trzebiel and since then again to the rural municipality of Trzebiel. Since a further regional reform in 1998, the municipality of Trzebiel with the district of Olszyna has been part of the Lubusz Voivodeship.
