Oona Laurence (born August 1, 2002 in New York City , New York ) is an American actress .

Life

Oona Laurence began her career at the age of ten on Broadway in New York City in the musical Matilda , which is based on the novel by Roald Dahl . From March to December 2013 she played the lead role of Matilda Wormwood. In 2013 she received a Tony Award in the category "Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theater" and in 2014 she was nominated for a Grammy for her performance .

She began her film and television career in an episode of the dramedy Louie in 2012 . Further appearances followed in 2014 in the US television series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and in the feature film A Little Game as Becky Langer . In 2014, she played her first leading role in a feature film when she played Tommie in the American drama Lamb . The film premiered in 2015 at the South by Southwest Film Festival . She also played ten-year-old Tiffany Doggett in an episode of the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black in 2015 . She took on another role as Daisy in the drama I Smile Back . She played Biscuit Ryrie in the drama The Grief of Others . Besides, she was next to Rachel McAdams , Jake Gyllenhaal , 50 Cent and Forest Whitaker in boxers - Drama Southpaw seen. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2015 . In the film she played Leila Hope , the film daughter of Jake Gyllenhaal's character Billy Hope .

In 2016 she was next to Bryce Dallas Howard , Robert Redford and Oakes Fegley directed by David Lowery in the Disney - remake of Pete's Dragon with the German title Elliot, the dragon as Natalie to see. In the comedy film Bad Moms , she played alongside Mila Kunis, her film daughter Jane Mitchell . In 2017 she was in the film drama The seduced by Sofia Coppola in the role of Amy to see. The film premiered as part of the official selection during the Cannes International Film Festival in May 2017. Furthermore, Laurence plays her role again as Jane Mitchell in Bad Moms 2 . For the thriller What We Found (The Buried Girl) she was cast as Holly opposite Elizabeth Mitchell and James Ransone . She is also in front of the camera for the Netflix production Lost Girls .

Laurence lives in New York, where she attends the "Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts". She has two younger sisters, Aimée and Jeté , who also work as actresses.
