Anton Behmann

Anton Behmann (born August 2, 1850 in Schwarzenberg (Vorarlberg) , † January 4, 1932 in Schwarzach ) was an Austrian organ builder from Schwarzach in Vorarlberg .

Life

The son of a surgeon learned the trade of carpenter and was trained by Alois Schönach in Rankweil and Balthasar Pröbstl in Füssen. He founded his workshop in Schwarzach in 1878, after having set up his own business in Schwarzenberg in 1873 . From 1895 he trained his son Josef Behmann (1880–1932) as an organ builder in his own company. Josef Behmann took over the workshop in 1911. Anton Behmann's sons Ignaz and Alois also became organ builders.

The German organ builder Josef Brandl worked temporarily in Behmann's workshop . The workshop was incorporated into Rieger Orgelbau in 1946 .
