Patrice Lefebvre (born June 28, 1967 in Montreal , Québec ) is a former Italo - Canadian ice hockey player and current coach who worked for the Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League , the Adler Mannheim and Frankfurt Lions in the German Hockey League and the EHC Biel and Lausanne HC of the Swiss National League B played. He is currently the head coach at HC Gherdëinain the Alps Hockey League .
Career
The 1.68 m tall winger began his career with the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Canadian Junior League Québec Major Junior Hockey League . His 595 scorer points in the regular season from 1984 to 1988 are the most of any QMJHL player of all time. In 1988 he moved to the French Ligue Magnus for the Français Volants de Paris .
After another year in the Swiss National League A at HC Ajoie , Lefebvre went back to North America in 1990, where he worked for the Louisville Icehawks in the Minor League East Coast Hockey League and for the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League and the Springfield Indians was on the ice in the international hockey league . The left-handed shooter went to Switzerland again and then signed a contract with the Teesside Bombers from the British National League . Another station in Great Britain were the Billingham Bombers in the 1992/93 series.
After his time in England Lefebvre moved again to North America, where he played for six years for the Las Vegas Thunder in the IHL and in the 1998/99 season completed three games for the Washington Capitals from the National Hockey League . 1997/98 the Italian-Canadian scored the most IHL goals of the season and was then voted Most Valuable Player of the entire season. For the 1999/00 season Lefebvre signed a contract with DEL - record champion Adler Mannheim , which he left after a year in the direction of Frankfurt Lions . After three years with HCJ Vipers Milan in Italy and another engagement with Danish first division club Rødovre IK , the striker finally moved back to Switzerland, where he initially worked for EHC Biel and later for HC Lausanne. For the 2007/08 season he moved back to Italy, where he played for SG Pontebba and HC Valpellice . At the end of the 2008/09 season he resigned as a player and became assistant coach at the Val d'Or Foreurs in the North American junior league QMJHL.
In 2004, Lefebvre married an Italian woman and that is why he became an Italian citizen. In 2007 he played the A-Ice Hockey World Championship with the Italian national ice hockey team.
He began his coaching career in 2009 as an assistant coach to the Foreurs de Val-d'Or in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League . In 2010 he also played two more games as an active player for HC Real Turin in Serie A2 . In July 2010 he became a coach at the Italian club HC Como , where he took over the first team in the third division. Only three months later he was involved with the HC Lugano Ladies, the women's team at HC Lugano , where he was again employed as the team's coach. After starting the 2012/13 season as an assistant coach at HC Sierre in the second highest Swiss division, he moved to EHC Olten during the same season .
In the 2014/15 season he was head coach at HC Eppan in the Italian Serie A. In the following season he worked in the same position at Asiago Hockey . During the 2016/17 season, Lefebvre took over the position of head coach at HC Gherdëina with play in the Alps Hockey League .
