Pine Lakes is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County in the US state of Florida with 862 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Pine Lakes is about 35 km northeast of Tavares and about 50 km north of Orlando . The CDP is crossed by 44 Florida State Road .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 862 inhabitants were distributed over 361 households. The population density was 215.5 inh / km². 93.3% of the population identified themselves as whites, 1.0% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 0.2% as Asian Americans . 3.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.1% to several ethnic groups. 8.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 33.9% of all households and people aged 65 or over lived in 23.9% of all households. 65.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.64 people and the average family size was 2.97 people.

26.4% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.2% were 20 to 39 years old, 32.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 17.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 40 years. 50.7% of the population were male and 49.3% were female.

The median annual income was $ 24,545, with 53.0% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
