Ferndale is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County in the US state of Florida with 472 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Ferndale borders the city of Montverde to the southeast . The CDP is about 20 km south of Tavares and about 30 km west of Orlando .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 472 inhabitants were distributed over 126 households. The population density was 66.5 inh / km². 97.0% of the population identified themselves as white, 1.1% as African American and 0.8% as Asian Americans . 0.4% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 0.6% to several ethnic groups. 4.7% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 33.7% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 24.9% of all households. 77.5% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.79 people and the average family size was 3.15 people.

26.5% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 20.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 34.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 18.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 42 years. 52.8% of the population were male and 47.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 60,804, with 20.9% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
