Altoona is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake County in the US state of Florida with 89 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Altoona borders the city of Umatilla to the south and is crossed by Florida State Road 19 . The CDP is about 20 km north of Tavares and about 60 km north of Orlando .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 89 inhabitants were distributed over 48 households. The population density was 74.2 inh / km². 98.9% of the population identified themselves as whites and 1.1% as Asian Americans . 1.1% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 there were children under the age of 18 in 26.8% of all households and persons aged at least 65 years in 41.5% of all households. 48.8% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.17 people and the average family size was 3.15 people.

21.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 19.1% were 20 to 39 years old, 31.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 28.0% were 60 years or older. The mean age was 48 years. 55.1% of the population were male and 44.9% were female.

The median annual income was $ 43,724 with no one living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
