Piotr Sobociński (born February 3, 1958 in Łódź , Poland ; † March 26, 2001 in Vancouver , Canada ) was a Polish cameraman .

Sobociński was the son of the famous Polish cameraman Witold Sobociński , who also worked as a professor at the Łódź Film School in his son's birthplace . He had a long collaboration with Krzysztof Kieślowski , for whom he made two Decalogue films and for whose film Three Colors: Red he was nominated for an Oscar .

The films with Kieślowski were his breakthrough to an international career. In 2001 he died of a heart attack while filming the film 24 Hours of Fear .

He was buried in the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw .

The film Hearts in Atlantis , released a few months after his death, is dedicated to him.
