The 1946 season was the 26th season of the Primera División de Costa Rica , the highest Costa Rican soccer league. Seven teams took part. La Libertad won the championship for the 6th time in the club's history.

The Torneo Relámpago 1946 , in which a game lasted only 30 minutes, was played with all top division teams right before the start of the season. Heredia won the final 4-0 against the UCR.
