Primera División de Costa Rica 2007/08
The 2007/08 season included the 89th and 90th edition of the Primera División de Costa Rica , the highest Costa Rican football league. This season, two championships - Invierno Scotiabank 2007 and Verano Scotiabank 2008 - were played. An overall table was created from the results of both championships to determine the relegated to the Liga de Ascenso-Segunda División . Saprissa won the 26th and 27th championship titles in the club's history with the two championships.
Competition mode
In the 2007/08 season, two championships were played, first the Torneo de Invierno 2007 from July to December, then the Torneo de Verano 2008 from January to May. The Torneos were played in the following manner:
- The twelve participating clubs were divided into two groups A and B.
- Within each group, the clubs met once at home and once away, and there was one game against the clubs in the other group. In total, there were 16 games per team.
- After the group stage, the runners-up competed against the third-placed players in the other group in the quarter-finals in a two-legged manner.
- In the semi-finals, the group winners met the quarter-final winners.
- The two semi-final winners played out the champions in the final.
- At the end of the season, an overall table was created to determine the relegated to the Liga de Ascenso-Segunda División.
Remarks
- For the 2007/08 season, AD Municipal Liberia was converted into a public company and is now called Liberia Mia CF.
