The 1948 season was the 28th season of the Primera División de Costa Rica , the highest Costa Rican soccer league. Seven teams took part. Heredia won the championship for the 12th time in the club's history.

Competition mode

  • The seven participating teams played out the playoff and playdown participants in a single round (only one game) in the mode everyone against everyone .
  • The four playoff participants each played against each other once, the points scored were added to the points from the main round.
  • The last two teams played out the relegation participants.
  • The relegation participant played a relegation game against the champions of the 2nd division.
