Bolívar (also: Simón Bolívar ) is one of sixteen provinces in the southwestern part of the Cochabamba Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia and bears its name in honor of the South American freedom hero Simón Bolívar .

location

The province is located in the northern foothills of the Bolivian Cordillera Central between the large cities of Oruro and Cochabamba , off the main road Ruta 4 . It borders on the Oruro Department to the west, the Potosí Department to the south and southeast , and the Arque Province to the north .

The province extends between about 17 ° 53 'and 18 ° 08' south latitude and 66 ° 50 'and 67 ° 15' west longitude, its extension from west to east is 35 kilometers, from north to south 20 kilometers.
