Pujehun is a district of Sierra Leone with around 346,000 inhabitants (as of 2015). It belongs to the southern province and is located in the extreme south of the country, on the Atlantic coast and the border with Liberia . Its capital is Pujehun , other cities are Bomi , Foindu , Gandorhun and Potoru . The district is divided into 12 chiefdoms (chiefdoms).

Pujehun covers an area of ​​4105 square kilometers. The Mape , Mabesi and Masatoi Lakes are in the area of ​​the district .

The inhabitants of the Pujehun district belong to the ethnic groups of the Mende , Vai , Temne and Bullom-Sherbro and are mostly Muslim. The economy consists of diamond mining, fishing, coffee and cocoa plantations.

The district had 48 health facilities in 2006, including a state hospital. In 2005, 2.2% of the residents were HIV positive. In 2004/2005 there were 200 primary and 7 secondary schools. The literacy rate in 2004 was 26% (36% of men and 17% of women) and thus below the national average. 39% of the children went to school.
