The Rahimyar Khan District or Rahim Yar Khan is an administrative district in Pakistan in the Punjab Province . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Rahimyar Khan .

The district has an area of ​​11,880 km² and, according to the 2017 census, 4,814,006 inhabitants. The population density is 405 inhabitants / km². The Saraiki language is spoken by the majority in the district .

The district's river basin is located near the eastern bank of the Indus and Panjnad Rivers . The Rahimyar Khan District borders in the north on Muzaffargarh , in the east on the Bahawalpur , in the south on Jaisalmer ( India ) and Ghotki in the Sindh province and in the west on the Rajanpur .

Demographics

Between 1998 and 2017, the population grew by 2.27% annually. Around 21% of the population live in urban regions and around 79% in rural regions. 2,467,840 men, 2,345,938 women and 228 transgender people live in 701,520 households , which results in a gender ratio of 105.2 men per 100 women and thus a male surplus typical for Pakistan.
