The Roßgraben is a left tributary of the Saale in the area of ​​the city of Halle (Saale) and the Saalekreis . The ditch rises in two source streams already named Roßgraben in the village of Zscherben (Teutschenthal) . The northern one initially flows eastwards, while the southern one initially flows southwards. The northern one briefly reaches the urban area of ​​Halle, only to leave it again at the Angersdorf train station , south of Halle-Neustadt. After crossing under the tracks running in west-east direction, it flows west of Lauchstädter Straße with the southern source stream.

The Roßgraben again reaches Halle from the south in the area of ​​the south park of Halle-Neustadt . After crossing under federal highway 80 , it briefly follows the Zollrain road north, then turns east and finally flows into the church pond immediately south of the Passendorf church . Here it takes in water from the groundwater management for the Neustadt district and then flows through the Dreiecksteich. After exiting the Dreiecksteich, it again crosses under the B 80 and then follows in a northerly direction - z. T. piped - the Passendorfer Damm on its eastern side. After passing the Halle (Saale) racecourse in the north, it turns east and finally flows into the Saale above the Elisabeth Bridge .
